Every iPhone app needs one screenshot set that App Store Connect accepts, and Apple changed which set that is in October 2026. This is the 2026 reference for iPhone App Store screenshot sizes, spun off from the complete screenshot sizes guide for everyone who only needs the iPhone numbers. Every size below is checked against Apple's screenshot specifications as of October 7, 2026.
The Short Answer #
Provide one set at the 6.3-inch size, which App Store Connect now calls iPhone with Dynamic Island (medium display), in either accepted resolution:
- 1206 × 2622 pixels, the iPhone 18 Pro, 17 Pro, 17 and 16 Pro
- 1179 × 2556 pixels, the iPhone 16, 15 Pro, 15 and 14 Pro
Landscape is the same numbers reversed. That set is required for any app that runs on iPhone. Every other iPhone class is optional, including 6.9-inch, which used to be the required one. The simplest way to get it right: capture or build one set at 1206 × 2622 on the iPhone 17, 17 Pro or 18 Pro simulator.
Two other changes came with it. App Store Connect no longer labels iPhone slots by inches, and it now accepts iPhone Duo screenshots, which every app submitted from April 2027 will need.

Landscape sizes are the portrait dimensions with width and height swapped. Each slot takes 1 to 10 images in PNG or JPEG with no alpha channel. A transparent PNG fails the upload before it reaches review; the free screenshot validator checks that along with the dimensions.
Three things worth knowing about this table:
- The 6.3-inch class is the only one that matters for a new app. Until October 2026 the required set was 6.9-inch (or 6.5-inch without it). Now 6.3-inch is required, and a Pro Max capture no longer covers it.
- 6.9-inch and 6.5-inch are optional now. A 1320 × 2868 set is still accepted, in the iPhone with Dynamic Island (large display) slot. Keep it if you have one, but you still need a 6.3-inch set.
- The new names replace the inch labels in App Store Connect. The pixel sizes and the phones in each class did not change. The 6.1-inch slot now scales from 6.3-inch, and 5.5-inch still scales from 6.1-inch. In practice you never notice, because App Store Connect resolves the chain for you.
Which iPhone Is Which Class #
Apple groups phones by display class, and the names do not match the marketing screen sizes exactly. The current mapping from the spec:

Two surprises in that list. The iPhone Air sits in the 6.9-inch class even though its screen is smaller than a Pro Max, because Apple classes by resolution family rather than diagonal. And the iPhone 11 and XR are in the 6.5-inch class despite a native resolution of 828 × 1792, which is not an accepted size at all. A capture from an iPhone 11 has to be scaled up to 1242 × 2688 before App Store Connect takes it.
The iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max slot in without new sizes: the 18 Pro joins the required 6.3-inch class at 1206 × 2622, and the 18 Pro Max joins the 6.9-inch class at 1320 × 2868. The iPhone Duo is the exception. Apple lists it as its own entry, outside every other class, with new sizes: 1398 × 2034 for the outer display and 2007 × 2853 for the inner display. App Store Connect has accepted iPhone Duo uploads since October 5, 2026, and starting April 2027 every app or game submitted needs iPhone Duo screenshots, even apps not changed for the Duo. Capturing at the Right Size #
Screenshots come out of the Simulator or a device at native resolution, so the phone you capture from decides which slot the file fits.

The iPhone Duo is left out of this table on purpose. Its listed sizes, 1398 × 2034 and 2007 × 2853, don't match any other iPhone class, so a Duo capture only fits the iPhone Duo slot. It doesn't replace your required 6.3-inch set.
The simplest rule: capture from the iPhone 17, 17 Pro or 18 Pro simulator and you have the required set at 1206 × 2622 with no scaling. A Pro Max capture is no longer enough on its own. If you build screenshots in a template tool instead of uploading raw captures, the capture size matters much less. Should You Provide the Other Classes? #
Almost never. A scaled set is what most apps on the store are showing on other iPhones, and the difference is invisible at product-page size.
Provide a separate 6.9-inch or 6.1-inch set only when:
- Your screenshots have small captions that get hard to read after scaling
- You want to show a different screen order on larger or smaller phones
- You are running a product page optimization test and want to control exactly what each device sees
The 5.5-inch and 4.7-inch slots exist for apps that still support iPhone 8 and the second-generation SE. If your deployment target is iOS 17 or later, those slots never show to anyone.
Portrait or Landscape #
Apple accepts either orientation in every slot, but the first three screenshots appear in search results, and portrait ones take up more of the screen there. Unless your app is landscape-only, use portrait. A landscape set is shown in a horizontal carousel, and the first image carries almost all of the weight.
Common Rejections on iPhone #

- A size from the wrong class in the slot. A 1320 × 2868 Pro Max capture dropped into the required 6.3-inch slot is refused at upload, and so is a 1179 × 2556 capture from an iPhone 16 in the 6.9-inch slot.
- An iPhone 11 or XR capture at native size. 828 × 1792 is not accepted anywhere. Scale it or recapture on an iPhone 17 or 17 Pro.
- A transparent PNG. Some export pipelines add an alpha channel; App Store Connect refuses those files outright.
- Stretched aspect ratios. Forcing a 6.5-inch image to 6.3-inch dimensions distorts the device frame visibly. Use a template that re-lays out the canvas instead of resizing the image.
